Spice racks let into the doors
The kitchen at Mill Lane had one wall left, between the back door and the chimney breast, and the owners wanted somewhere for everything that usually ends up on the worktop.
The larder stands free of the wall, so it can move with them one day. Inside, five oak shelves at different heights for jars, tins and the big pans, and two deep drawers at the bottom that are cool enough for potatoes.
The doors
The spice racks are let into the backs of the doors, so the doors are thicker than they look: 22 mm frames with a 12 mm panel and a rack housed into the frame. The hinges are solid brass, three a door, and the doors still close with one finger.
